2021 2nd International Workshop on Diseases and Biomarkers

The 2021 Workshop on Diseases and Biomarkers was successfully held on October 28th at Xidian University, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. The event was hosted by the School of Life Science and Technology of Xidian University and the Engineering Research Center of Molecular and Neuro Imaging Ministry of Education, and co-organized by the Division of International Cooperation & Exchanges Office of Xidian University. It took place on October 28th, 2021, in the South Campus of Xidian University, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.​​​​

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Hu from the School of Life Science and Technology. Dean Tian, in his opening speech, expressed sincere gratitude towards the university and the scholarly participants. He highlighted that despite the virtual format, the conference was dedicated to presenting the latest significant research from the field of life sciences and will continue to provide a platform for in-depth academic exchange and cooperation between Chinese and international scholars. Dean Tian discussed the national focus on health and life sciences and the ongoing enhancement of interdisciplinary efforts between medicine and engineering through technological innovations in medical science, describing these as substantial opportunities and challenges for the field.

In her address, Secretary Wang welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the School, highlighting the Engineering Research Center for Molecular and Neuro Imaging, recognized as a provincial model for innovative biomedical imaging education, and a provincial-level entrepreneurship and innovation practice base. She emphasized the School's multidisciplinary approach, which has led to fruitful research outcomes in molecular imaging, neuroimaging, and biometric recognition and encryption. She expressed hopes that the workshop would foster discussions on current research and future directions in disease detection, imaging, and treatment, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the medical industry in China.

The topics of the conference included disease biomarkers, molecular imaging, nano-biomaterials, microfluidic chips, intelligent medical analysis, and clinical research of diseases. Fifteen participants from academic, medical, and industrial backgrounds shared their insights on current research and future directions in disease detection, imaging, and treatment.

 

The closing ceremony, led by Professor Hu, took place in the afternoon of October 28th. During the ceremony, Secretary Wang awarded certificates to two graduate students for their excellent presentations, recognizing their contributions and encouraging all students to persist in their academic endeavors and contribute to the global public health sector.

​Finally, Professor Hu summarized the event, thanking the university, participating experts, and students for their hard work. He noted the profound discussions that had taken place, particularly in the areas of biomarker detection, molecular imaging, nano-biomaterials, microfluidic chips, intelligent medical analysis, and clinical studies. Professor Hu emphasized the goal of scientific research to advance human development and technological progress to promote societal advancement. He expressed hope that the workshop provided a multitude of academic perspectives and encouraged continued professional breakthroughs to contribute to national development and public well-being.
