2024 5th International Workshop on Diseases and Biomarkers

The 2024 5th International Workshop on Diseases and Biomarkers was successfully held on October 19-20, 2024, in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, at Xidian University. The workshop was jointly organized by the School of Life Science and Technology of Xidian University, Engineering Research Center of Molecular and Neuro Imaging Ministry of Education, and Xi'an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Intelligent Precision Medicine. It was undertaken by the Party Branch Committee of the Biolight Laboratory of School of Life Sciences and Technology in Xidian University, and co-organized by the Division of International Cooperation & Exchanges Office of Xidian University, the Shaanxi Advanced Academic Discipline Innovation Base for Medical Information Perception and Intelligent Diagnosis, the International Joint Research Center for Advanced Medical Imaging and Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment, Xi'an Bio-Pharmaceutical Incubator Co., Ltd., Guangdong Instrument and Control Society, and Karaganda Medical University.​​​​​

Professor Hu, the chair of the conference and faculty member of the School of Life Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony. He noted that since its inception in 2019, this series of international workshops has been successfully held four times. After meticulous preparation, the fifth installment commenced on schedule at Xidian University. Professor Hu expressed his sincere gratitude towards the university, the School of Life Science and Technology, and all participants for their support and enthusiastic assistance. He warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked the experts, scholars, and leaders who joined the conference amidst their busy schedules.

The conference aimed to discuss how to leverage biomarkers effectively, providing new ideas and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, thereby ensuring human health and high-quality social development. Leveraging the distinctive and advantageous disciplines of electronic and information science at our university, the event injected new vitality into the research of biomarkers and promoted disease treatment research. Nineteen international experts, twenty-six domestic experts, and nearly a hundred students participated in the conference. These experts presented their latest findings and research on new biomarkers, detection technologies and methods, innovations in in vitro diagnostics, applications of molecular imaging and nanoprobes, advancements in microfluidic chip technology in biomedicine, applications of flexible sensing technology in disease monitoring, and the use of artificial intelligence in disease diagnosis and biomarker detection, offering fresh perspectives, methodologies, and opportunities for collaboration to researchers dedicated to disease research.

The conference concluded successfully with Professor Hu presenting awards to students who reported their research findings. He extended his heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their valuable contributions and for sharing their cutting-edge research and innovative ideas. These presentations not only showcased the latest advancements in their respective fields but also reflected the profound enthusiasm and commitment of the academic community towards exploring new knowledge. This academic meeting not only built a platform for diverse intellectual exchange and deep discussion but also served as a beacon guiding the future of life sciences. It fostered the sharing and discussion of leading-edge research findings, sparked innovative thoughts and inspirations, and built bridges for mutually beneficial collaboration, allowing researchers from various backgrounds to jointly explore new frontiers in life sciences. The event not only enriched our intellectual treasure but also laid a foundation for collaborative success, injecting new energy and momentum into the ongoing development of life sciences.
